This Friday would have been a day where we would do tasks getting ready for Easter and stopping somewhere nice for lunch. Instead, Colleen went to stores and I kept her company on the phone.

It is hard to keep life semi-normal, Colleen went looking for things for Easter. I imagine many parents were doing the same. Colleen believes in not telling the children and keeping things as normal as possible. I always felt that children need to know when something is wrong because I think they can sense it and their imagination might be worse than reality. Not knowing is often more fearful than knowing. That is why this disease is scary to us. There is so much we don’t know. For one thing, why do some get so sick, while others have very few symptoms. I like to listen to the Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo. He tells the facts and explains why things need to be the way they are. I’m sure he has saved many lives. He, also, gives you hope in the end. I want to thank him for his leadership in this crisis. I want to thank our Governor Murphy for his leadership too. The Governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have been working together to form a strategy to keep us safe.
Most importantly, I want to thank the nurses and doctors who are at the front lines. We are sitting in our homes hiding from an enemy, while they bravely face it every day. I can only imagine the nightmare that they live day after day. They see the worse of this disease. The fear of not only for themselves but for their families. Their children, their spouses can be put at risk. I don’t think I would be capable of it. Thank you so very much, each and everyone of you. You all deserve a medal. I hope when this is over, you will get well- deserved recognition for your efforts. A nurse and doctor day?
