This Friday, we went to a favorite restaurant Gus’s. The restaurant has been here for many years and was always crowded. I always wanted to try it and never managed to do so. When I finally did go, I was sad that I didn’t go sooner. After we had lunch, we went berry picking at Happy Day Farms.

Colleen had the Chicken Francaise, she orders it every time it’s on the lunch special menu. She enjoys this very much, because the chicken is tender, so tender you can cut it with a fork. The sauce is lemony and rich.

Fried Flounder and Potato Salad
I had ordered the potato salad instead of the fries. I like the fried flounder, it is very crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The potato salad is yummy.

We went berry picking, something we tried to do last year but arrived too late. There are many fun things for the kids here, like a giant rocking chair. A little girl was there with her mother, she was so cute dressed in a straw hat and brown dress, carrying sunflowers. Her mother took pictures of her sitting in the giant rocking chair. I imagine those pictures will bring be adorable.

You can pick sunflowers there, but it’s a bit pricey.

I see some delicious smoothies in my future.
Food for thought
I often wonder, I guess about silly things, like I wonder who first tried various fruits and vegetables. Was it out of desperation from being hungry or curiosity? I heard somewhere that cavemen learned from animals, but not everything animals eat, we can. My bunny eats wood, talk about fiber! I’m sure it wouldn’t be good for us. I, also, wonder about what the caveman would think about all the food preparation that goes into our food. When people complain about something being too salty, would they be disgusted with us?
Lately, when I read about someone having an ailment in a magazine, there is a pill suggested. Some sort of herbal supplement, that will cure it. In the future, will we be just surviving on pills? If you could live without disease and have a long life by just taking pills and no food, would you? I think of food as one of the great pleasures in life. Really, it’s one of the few luxuries that many can enjoy.
